The game has always been able to make NPC ships do things that the player cannot. The real trick is in using them where it doesn't really matter all that much, such as when docking, or when you can understand why the faction might design for and train to do them - Xenon example.

It is possible that the ZYA plot progress and the PAR loss of reputation may be unrelated. It may be that a ship of yours passing through PAR space at the time fired back at a pirate masked as someone that was not enemy to PAR, or at a faction or masked ship that had recently become enemy to you but...

To answer your first reply - It does not have to be a TEL ship. Any faction (real or as masked) that MIN is friendly or neutral to that you fire on in a TEL area will annoy MIN. It's a catch-all text/voice that says station even when a ship in radar range of any station has been fired on and a MIN station doesn't have to be involved. The special tag is applied to that specific ship/ID and when you re-engineer you are reverting the ship (whether so tagged or not) to the basic ship type blueprint and any ships built from that type blueprint will have different IDs and no tag. @ user1679: X4 does/will not routinely require any online connection to continue playing unless a specified online feature (past or future) is optionally selected. Such a basic playing requirement can not be retro-added for sold games. Please don't worry about such 'what if' conspiracies.

If it is literally just one or two frames as you say then it might be vsync preventing screen tearing - that theory is somewhat supported in your looking around quickly comment. Do you have vsync on or off, and does the issue change if you toggle it?

I would guess that build storages cores being invulnerable and not targetable is a game design choice.
