Re: Let's talk about Ants (The Animal)

Get yourself a copy of the Clifford Simak book City I won't spoil it, and I urge you not to read any wikipedia stuff or summaries of it before reading it. Try to experience it without knowing anything beforehand. this is hard to do now when information is a mere mouseclick away, but try not to. It h...

lucky Ebay stuff

During the Lockdown I’ve been working from home, like pretty much everyone, thus saving a bundle on commuting costs and a ton of other things, so I thought I’d use this as an opportunity to expand my film camera equipment. Such as FINALLY buying a Hasselblad and a few lenses and moving up into large...

Ah, that was it, never noticed this feature before, but then I've been rather too busy to come here as often as I'd like.

thanks

Whenever I open my link to this forum, my browser titles it as (4) Off Topic English - egosoft i don't understand where this (4) has come from. Re: Biden

I don't know much about Biden. To be honest I didn't even realise he'd been Obama's VP. I read an article saying nothing would change because he was the establishment, but we've seen what a supposedly non establishment one does, and it doesn't seem to work any better. It's a big country, lots of it ...

Re: Biden

One thing I really don't understand about Americans is their habit of referring to themselves as 'x nation' Americans (Irish, African, whatever), rather than just Americans, and also being proud of this often far distant heritage, often resulting from people who were in desperate need of a new start...

Re: Trump

Can it be true? Has my thread finally started to come to an end after 5 years?

Let's just hope he doesn't get elected again.

Re: Trump

going back to the two post I made when I started this seemingly never ending thread back in 2016, where it started innocently as a conversation between me and RegisterMe how was I to know it would still be around? What on earth is going on here? How is it that Trump, a pathalogical lier who is clear...

Re: Trump

Why hasn't the Republican party conceded on Trumps behalf? I was under the impression they could. Also I thought if they didn't wouldn't this be a risky precedent for them to set? It might (probably would) be a tactic used against them in the future. After all they're withholding not just money, but...

Re: Trump

He certainly burned through a lot of cash, probably a fair amount from his father is now gone too. (if not all) but it really no surprising really. And yeah, and why he been so eager to keep his tax returns so hidden. But also seems that he will end up having to pay a lot of money back, so that wil...

Re: Trump

Here in the UK people complain about how who wins elections gets decided when an unpopular thing happens. You need only look at the referendum. Would they have complained as loudly if the remain side had won I wonder? That was a simple majority, which is bizarrely what most want for our general elec...

Re: Trump

I'll grant you, those are all problems that need a solution and soon. However, all of that isn't going to matter a bit if the US falls to fascism and Trump is allowed to crown himself emperor. That you can even say this is an indication of how far things have gone wrong. No matter how bad he might ...

Re: Trump

You had the right to bear arms to prevent this sort of thing didn't you? (I'm not an expert on the US constitution). Whatever, the carrying of weaponry hasn't done a thing to prevent the country going downhill. Rising debt and cost of living, a legal opioid addiction epidemic. Out of control educati...

Re: Trump

I'm pretty sure the German citizens and political leaders that were slaughtered for Hitler's rise to power and the Jews that were brutalized, tortured, and murdered by the Nazis would resoundingly disagree with you. Also, the original Americans and their progeny were pretty ****** depraved as well ...

Re: Trump

You get politics from photography channels, we get fascism from the white house. It's horrible for everyone. I recall a quote from one of my all time favourite Science Fiction series Babylon Five. I think possibly said by a Technomage: No Evil man ever seized power, they all had it handed to them Y...

Re: Trump

Even my favourite photography youtube channels are starting to talk about the election now. 'Three Blind Men and an Elephant' just started a new series, which I though was going to be on the history of Hasselblad (Look, I can dream can't I?), but episode one they just released is all about this bloo...

Re: Trump

Weren't people just exactly this convinced he'd lose last time? I'm not so sure. As much as so many people want to pin all of the things that are going wrong on Trump. It feels more like he's a symptom, not the cause of the current problems happening in the US right now. He may have been a vocal par...

Re: wow, i must love the X series

All the games in the X Series prior to X Rebirth use fundamentally the same game engine. It evolved and changed for each iteration of the game, so the version used in X3AP is significantly different in many ways to the one used in X-BTF, but it wouldn't be possible to draw a line between any two pa...

Re: wow, i must love the X series

It really wasn't. The X2 graphics engine was a *major* upgrade from the BTF one. Yes, indeed that was an upgrade. But it was an upgrade to the graphics engine and not the game engine. A lot of things had changed between BTF/XT to X2, but as far as I know, the math happening in the background hasn't...

Re: wow, i must love the X series

i got so lost in Paranid space the first time I played X2. I had to stay up till about three till I finally made it back to Argon territory and could dock safely.

It was great. Hadn't had such a nerve wracking experience since my early PC gaming days, and I haven't since.
