I generally hate gambling.

I liked the 'casinso' ships in X3 only because they were easy boarding targets to get started on.

Basically to make a fun money making usage of walking on a station or in a large ship.
I'm of the opinion that anything the player can walk around in should also be able to be built and owned by a player, aside possibly from things like Xenon structures/ships-- which I admit might make more sense in many cases only to become owned by capturing (and probably shouldn't work in quite the same way once they are owned by a player or any non-Xenon faction).

Much of the magic of the X series is being able to do just about anything a person in that universe should want to be able to do, and that necessarily includes accumulating all manner of productive assets and profiting handsomely from whatever benefits and miseries they output. Whatever is left out from that is a very noticeable omission.

Or to just transport a cargo hold full of slaves (Life Support Upgrade Needed) to it's destination with an increase in Police Activity scanning ships like in X3.
IIRC, you could already sell slaves to pirate bases or something like that in X3TC, right? I never did due to roleplaying reasons, but I seem to recall this being done.

IOW - It was possible, so maybe it can be expanded in X4?

Yes, if you were carrying any passengers, while docked at a pirate station selecting it in the inventory offered an interaction option (unavailable anywhere else) along the lines of "turn into slave" (I forget the exact wording), and then it became a unit of "Slaves" ware. I think the same was possible with marines - I seem to recall partially recouping a *tiny* fraction of marine purchase costs when purchased marines turned out to be lemons (as in 'crap' rather than literally citrus fruits - though that would have been fun, too! :P ) - since then, however, I simply never hired marines without me having a Bioscanner installed.

you could also turn in ejected pirates to freindly stations and get a reward for turning them in.

That could actually be a good improvement for any bounty mission: Add a dead or alive factor.
You get a certain bounty for shooting down the guy, but if you actually manage to capture him alive (through having him bailing out then collecting the escape pod, or through capital ship boarding), then you get a bonus.
Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.

Some people never develop beyond this stage.

I Vaguely remember a mission type like this in Freelancer and would definitely be cool to see in X4. On the flip side pirates could have kidnapping missions.

Why, the loved ones left behind. Poor little Susie's dad just disappeared at a Split Casino. Just see what happens when she blogs it all over the Univernet! :x
"Yes, is this Sector Police?"

"Yes, miss, how can we help you?"

"I'd like to report two strangely painted Spit Dragons parked outside of my hab module. And, there's a shady-looking Paranid dressed in an ill-fitting service uniform banging on my door, demanding that I let him come in to check on a "gas leak."

"Uh... I'm sorry, miss, but we can't see those Split ships. Maybe there really is a gas leak?"

"Civilized people haven't used natural gas for thousands of years for anything, except the Boron, who think it's perfume. Anyway, the ships are right outside! Surely you can see them? They're huge!"

<bang bang bang "unintelligible">

"And there's this Paranid still at my door, too!"

"Ma'am? I'm truly sorry, but we can't see those two Split cruisers - Literally. We can't see them. Do you understand?

"You mean -"

"You shouldn't have said those things on the Univernet, you know. Sorry. But, we'll look after your dog for you. Frood here loves dog, don't ya Frood?"

"Dog devishus, yesh, very!"
