How do you turn on scripting in x4

Tried changing my name to Thereshallbewings. Didn't seem to do anything. Couldn't find anything relating to scripting in the menus. What is the process and where do I look in the menu?

There is no ingame script editor. All scripting happens in the XML files.

Does that mean you could also edit your savegame files and boost your money that way? Not intending to do that, it would ruin the game for me, but could you? Or could you modifty the starting scenario's and boost money or ship that way, or perhaps even give you a completely outfitted ship to start with?

Saves are with gz compressed xml files. You find the money on 2 to 4 places
