Fantastic Tic.

This script is whats needed to open up player owned trading stations and equipement docks to be more than they are designed to be. I already have plans in place for mine, was going to write a script like this my self.

But it sounds like you or the scripts creator had a better idea.

Glad i waited.

Note to players:

Build a chain of Trading stations from your secure sectors all the way out to distant sectors.

Have your freighters ferry the goods out to first Trading station in the chain, from there ferry the goods out to the second.

Give all Freighters you use to ferry the goods a fighter escort. They will not be many of them so it should not cost too much.

Now you can sell your goods anywhere and dont even need to worry about sector defence in distance sectors because your not going to have lots of freighters flying around in them.

Just one idea for this script.

BTW the chain is to allow retail outlets to sell your goods at regular points along the way. I recommend a min of 5 sectors between each trading station you place.

I'm guessing you're supposed to overwrite all files it says will be overwritten.

alls you needed to do is copy the scripts and t folders from the zip file over to the main directory of your x2 install where the same exact folders are and when it asks if you want to overwrite the scripts folder say yes and when it asks to overwrite the t folder say yes... no other files are over written, it just adds those files to the existing folders.

Ok i didnt do that, i selected the exe. file, it asked where I wanted to download it to, so (like 1.4) I downloaded it to my main X2 folder.
I was told this would replace several folders so (like with 1.4) i selected 'Yes to all'....at this stage the panic im feeling was still in its infancy.

Right so as per the read me file at the beginning of this thread I went to my X2 Folder to copy and paste the mentioned file to the Scripts and T folder, but Where was the the new file??????
Its not there and there is no Read Me either......the panic was increasing!

So after much searching i still couldnt find the newly installed file. So I thought I may have put it somewhere else so I repeated the above and still couldnt find anything to copy or paste..........Now this is where the panic really took off and has maintained to its present level.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT OF THIS BIG BLACK HOLE IM IN!!!

Brodie, it sounds like you executed the file rather than downloading it. On download you shouldn't have had a message about files being replaced. Check the scripts and t folders for the new files mentioned at the beginning of the thread. If they are there, you should be good to go.

When you install the script, take care to ensure you install it to the correct location, i.e. the correct game folder. It will not replace folders, only files. Read the instructions on the screen carefully.

In addition, even when installed correctly, the in-game SDS software is in limited locations, the only one I know about for sure is the equipment dock in Paranid Prime (costs about 10k)

Hiya everybody. Ok, let's see. I, like a few others on this thread, am still having a tough time figuring this guy out. I've got it installed correctly. I have taken all (it's a lot) of my transport ships to the various Paranid equipment docks and fitted them with this upgrade. Sent them home. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use it. Could somebody please give me a nudge. Here's where I'm at ...

Go to Property Owned
Choose Stations
Choose a Bio Gas Factory
Choose owned ships (1 ship)
Choose that ship and command console
Choose trade
Ok, here I see the option 5, 6 and 7 (SDS delivery to 1, 2 and 3 respectively)
Choose option 5 - delivery to 1
Choose the sector
Choose Bofu Chem Lab
Input number????? What you talking bout Willis?
This is where I get hung up.

What am I supposed to put in this spot?
What's it mean?
Am I supposed to have a supply of money in my stations that have the ships moving resources back and forth?
Is there a readme file that I am missing that tells you how to properly use this script. I've read the readme file that came with the update about 700 times thinking that maybe I've missed something. Any assistance is greatly appreciated as I am in a holding pattern until I can get this sorted.

Edit: Hrmm, no replies. Well, I think I've kind of got it sorted out. I have my transport ships ferrying goods now but I'm still at a loss as to what the input number means. I just put 0 and that seems to work. Any suggestions?

If I read what the author said earlier correctly, the input number would be your internal selling price - the price that the TS expects to get paid by the station it's delivering to. It defaults to 0 and can work like that, but as I do with my "traditional" loops it seems it's best to set it at the minimum you need to cover the cost of the resources input into the producing factory. Off the top of my head that'd be about 11 for energy cells to cover the cost of crystals being brought in.

I haven't given enough thought at this point as to whether you could set up a completely zero'd loop, but presumably if you had a well-resourced player owned loop you could do that, which would eliminate the need for "seed funds" in each factory to kick them off. But you might as has been mentioned need to bring materials in from outside, say if energy became very cheap, and for that you'd obviously need cash in the factory.

Thanx for the reply Naranek! It's all starting to make sense now. As I have completely closed loops I have set all of my trading ships to 0. They seem to be working fine now. Busily scampering around the sector moving goods. The really nice part about this is after I got it all working correctly, I now have a surplus of 50+ transport ships. Nice job guys!

ROCK!

I have several questions about this script and 1.4 in general.

I just downloaded the 1.4 patch, and installed it.

I also downloaded:

SDS.zip
Tuning Kit
Trade Command Mk3

I installed all these scripts 1 at a time. By install I just made sure that the files in each Zip went into the appropoate folder (Scripts or t). I then started a brand new game of X2.

Questions:
1. Do I need to do anything else to get these scripts working?
2. How do I know they are working OK?
3. Where in-game do I get theTuning Kit and SDS? I visited a Paranid Eq Dock (can't remember which one) and it wasn't there. I was in a M4 Mako at the time with virtually all upgrades except Trade Software.
4Am I right in saying that SDS can only be installed in a TS with Trade Software installed?

Thanks
