I'm not seeing anything and my calibration has not required adjustment. Nor am I getting any extra FPS with X3:TC as I'm still averaging 64-66 in the demo.

Crashes on attempted install for me with some library item missing - solution too convoluted for midnight on a friday so it'll wait until I am feeling at least pseudo sentient.
“Man, my poor head is battered,” Ed said.

“That explains its unusual shape,” Styanar said, grinning openly now. “Although it does little to illuminate just why your jowls are so flaccid or why you have quite so many chins.”

“I…” Had she just called him fat? “I am just a different species, that’s all.”

“Well nature sure does have a sense of humour then,” Styanar said. “Shall we go inside? It’d not be a good idea for me to be spotted by others.”

Hmm, its so-so... my monitor is usually set to bright settings so it can be hard to tell, but colours may seem a tad deeper; but that could be spotting things because I am looking closely.

I haven't played UT3 in a while, although it probably is installed. Good to hear its performance is improved. I don't have Dungeon Siege 2, so I can't compare in any way. Also, do not forget Windows 7/Vista does have some form of colour correction (or profile), which can adjust colours, both for games and also for photos (using Windows Picture Gallery it'd have a peach/brown tint to it). It could be that ATI have countered that effect, although I have had my colour profile deleted a long time.

A Radeon 5850 with the 9.12 display driver is putting out some good frame rates. The card does not get on well with my motherboard, awaiting another BIOS update.

An example, showing a Falcon Hauler.
All X3:TC settings set to their maximum.

No, Bug, I don't think it's just you. I switched to a 5850 couple months ago, and I've been mainly playing Fallout 3 lately... Well, the topside Wasteland looks as dreary as ever, but interior colors seem a bit more lively under 9.12. Especially the goo puddles left by the plasma rifle; they seem to be a bit... glowy now, while before they were just bright green.

I wasn't really looking for any visual improvements from the driver set -- they just jumped out at me.

I've just installed the 10.1 driver package; after removing 9.12, and the Catalyst Control Centre is telling me that I've just installed Catalyst version 09.11 with a date of 12th. Nov. 2009.

The driver Version is 6.14.10.7039, I can not remember the 9.12 version, so I don't know if anything has changed.

Update: Other users on the AMD forums are reporting similar problems.

After removing 10.1 and installing 9.12 my frame rates remain low, so something else has changed.

Update 2:
Due to the odd numbers I was getting - I re-installed 10.1 and found a solution to the poor figures. In Catalyst > 3D > All Settings, I selected Defaults and saved, this has obviously changed something as the performance has returned.

no thank you i don't fancy spending another 3 hours to swap drivers.
i don't get why they can't make an unistaller that removes every last single trace of the previous drivers.
No you have to spend more then an hour searching the registry for every last entry before the new ones will install properly
Before 9.3 i didn't have this problem now its the same with every single release.
unistall driver > reboot > safe mode driver sweeper + ccleaner > reboot install new driver > reboot again sorry ati catalyst control center doesn't recognize your card please install driver.
In device manager its say's every driver is installed but catalyst can't find the 2D driver for some reason.
And the amd support forum isn't helpful either and launching a support ticket is just as useless.

Confused? Some people are having problems installing driver? Or am I Missing something? - I installed yesterday and it took around 5 minutes plus a reboot.

Uninstalling the previous driver and the changes it makes in numerous locations (i.e just unistalling from the 'Add or Remove' programmes screen does not actually remove all of your previous driver).

@ xeon_1, sounds like you've got some persistent problem with an older driver..
- to completely scrub out the earlier one(s) follow this guide, to the letter

@xeon_1: I think BugMeister basically hit the nail on the head, I started having issues around 9.10 - it was just a stray file which had got into the works. Since I corrected that I haven't had issues since by using the "Express Uninstall All ATI Software" (and then removing everything using that).

On another note though, anyone played GRID recently and had issues with it on the latest drivers? (Win 7 64bit) Mine regularly has scenery disappear and crashes it seems which has got worse with each new release of drivers, though it may also be xfire ingame interfering - I may disable that next time I play to make sure.

Hmmm... improved Dirt2 performance. I guess I can live with the current fps.

Solves BluRay playback issues... ok, maybe I need this one. Haven't got any BD's yet, but I intend to get them. And run at 1680x1050, the mentioned trouble resolution.

Display will now enter power save mode properly... right, that's one I want actually.

Now, let's see if I can install this thing the easy way, without doing too much cleaning beforehand.

Edit: and that's that I suppose :)
