NO it's killed my FIREFOX so if you use fierfox don't instal it.
OK now I need some help. Since I installed IE 8, my Firefox is no longer working right. It opens up and goes onto the internet but nothing works on it, e.g. if i try to click on a button like the home button, nothing happens, I can't even scroll the page. But if I open up another program and go to that then come back to Firefox it works, that is until I go to another page, then it's back to it not working anymore. I have uninstalled IE 8, done a roll back to yesterday, I even uninstaled Firefox, redownloaded it and installed it again with out any joy as it is still not working. Anyone got any other ideas on what to try.

.er, when I asked if anyone was having a go..
I didn't mean "having a go" - at IE8
- know what you mean, though - all that old "M$ want your soul" stuff..
- well, who cares, they've got mine anyway - so I'm already "souled"..
- I like it, it wants to do the right things..
- in operation it feels OK, but
- they seem to have nicked an application layer from somewhere, as I'm often resorting to "compatibilty mode" to make pages work..
- Imageshack behaves strangely and PCWizard2008 has ceased to function altogether..
- does this mean us IE8 users waiting for everyone else to catch up..
- 'spose could be that it's just teething troubles with the BETA version, though..??
- lorks, it might even be my crappy system..!!
- a bit of polish, and this could be a winner..
- recommend you await the final release - unless you're feeling adventurous..
- or crazy, like the bug..

Uninstall both again, install and run this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and get it to remove the ie stuff, install and run firefox again.felter wrote:NO it's killed my FIREFOX so if you use fierfox don't instal it.

- I have to disagree, this one seems to be trying harder..pjknibbs wrote:So, pretty much the same as every other version of IE ever released, then?The_Abyss wrote:Beta 2 is a massive resource hog.
- admittedly it seems to favour the web-happy Facebook types, but it really has got some useful added functionalities..
- I just wish I could make more use of it all..
- my current ( OK - somewhat antediluvian!) system is looking very pinched, these days..
- My daughter (- aged 16 yrs) was quite happily running 4 streaming web pages simultaneously this afternoon on her PC
- while at the same time running SIMS flat-out, without a care in the world!
- she and her Mum share a wifi-connected PC between them..
- OK, say no more - it's mostly dance vids, SIMS and Ch4 Big Brother, etc
- though they both like J Depp and C Walken, so all is NOT yet lost..
- delightful, aren't they - those female thingies..
- ah well, one day I'll have that multi-functioning, all-purpose system I've been dreaming of..
- then the paint will start to peel..!!
- I very much feel that this current effort comes showing much more promise than usual...

Well we talk about IE being a resource hog, how about firefox 3 these days?
I ran 2 with no addons and that was speedy as anything, 3 now takes ages to load and feel sluggish.
Now its developed an issue where I cant stay logged in anywhere and apparantly the only fix is to reinstall! And its a widely known issue from what I can tell.
Still, have stayed well clear of IE for years.
From what I can see there isnt a great deal that is wonderfully new, its all a bit samey over the past few years..

after giving this shiny piece of MSWare a severe bashing (..sorry - testing!)
I've edited my last post as follows:
- with MS, sometimes it seems it's mostly about all those available add-ins
- eg, Silverlight feels nice - and works very smoothly in the background..
- reckon MS definitely has the edge when it comes to integrating the whole thing, though..
- have to say, with IE8 it feels as though they're extending the communications side of the equation a good deal..
- and full marks to them for that!!
- for those among us with wide broadbands and high-end systems this can only be good..
- personally, I'd recommend a QuadCore running Vista-Ultimate 64Bit with 8G RAM
- for an XP 32Bit -powered P4 with 2G RAM, it's way too much, man..
- it's back to IE7 for me
