Awesome. I'm downloading it now to give it a whirl. Is there a list on what all is included in the Alpha? ie which Ships are included, etc? It's not critical in the least, I just want to make sure I marvel at everything, and not miss out on something.
*edit* I found a list of what's included in the download install file. It still might be worth posting somewhere near the download link.

Firstly, congrats on the demo release, I've been dying for this to come out.
Looks great, main menu splash screen had me bouncing in my chair
Jumpgates, mindblowing, missus told me to stop squeaking, enough said.
1) No automatic fire on the weapons? It seemed they were all one trigger press, one round fired.
2) Hyperspace, if I'm being too fussy, tell me, the first hyperspace sector you get to enter has a desription that says "It is a featureless area with no life" with an apparent population of 24,803,144 people. Minor detail I know feel free to ignore this.
3) Mission - Milk Run, buy 80 of item and transport back, only have enough money to buy 71 of them at this point. "well make 2 trips I hear you say" yep, but due to distances, even under 10x seta this takes about 20 mins per trip and personally I hate seta anyway. Plus for what is essentially a training mission, maybe reduce to 70?
4) It also seems your escort does not reappear after you undock from the trading post in the second sector, I got blown up by a triangular raider shippy thingy on the way back (I had no guns so I decided to play chicken with it, to make a long story short, neither of us blinked.)
Love what I've seen so far. Will start again later on, give it another go, just thought I'd add my two-penneth worth.

Hi runaway101, thanks for the nice comments and on your observations.
1) Automatic fire - odd if I hold my fire button down it does kep firing until you release it or run out of weapons energy.
2) We've not really spent much time on descriptions to date. Most are not done or temporary. If we have time we will fix it
3)Did you spend some of your 6000cr at the start of the game elsewhere, you do have a point though...I might need to add a 'does the player have enough credits for this mission' test in there.
4) In 'theory' the 2 escorts should wait outside the station for u and then follow as you move beyond 7km from the station- I'll take another look at that one.
@Kodiak88 There is a list included in the Documentation file in the main TC directory or see the web site.
Thanks all

Only started the game with 1000cr, not 6000.
I know why the escorts don't follow you now, if its triggered by picking up all 80 of the parts for the mission guidance to direct you home, then I only had 71, so they just stayed outside the station in Jericho.
Still got to finish that mission, will note anything else I discover.
EDIT: Ignore that credit issue for the time being, I think something is up with my x3tc installation, I used the same clean installation for this mod as I did for the transcend mod, I think the transcend uninstaller might have left something behind as now I keep crashing as I warp back to the starting sector. Gonna delete and install a clean copy later on tonight.
EDIT2: would using the registry hack to unlock all the game starts affect the money you start with in the demo start?

I had the same problem. I just manually edited the start.xml in the director folder. Look for this line:runaway101 wrote:Only started the game with 1000cr, not 6000.

<do_when value="{player.gamestart}" exact="101" comment="EA Trainee Pilot">
<reward_player>
<money exact="1000"/>
And set the money the 6000.

Odd. I tried that and it ignored me...so I put it in one of my initialisation scripts instead, but it seems that only works for some as well. I wonder if I put it in both if it will finally work for everyone. Ahh the oddities of X3!!A1783 wrote:I had the same problem. I just manually edited the start.xml in the director folder. @Hicky : It's a start but there's still a long way to go yet, before it morphs into anywhere near the proper article I'm fairly content with it.

ATM you cannot aquire/buy the weapons and other various equipment, but they are preloaded on all ships anyway...this will also be true in shipyards eventuallyA1783 wrote:Looks good, I just wish that weapons could be bought somewhere as I think I've explored everything but can't find a way to get weapons, even the simple ones. Don't mind cheating but I'd prefer not to have to.

Awsome mod guys.
Just wanted to say this is an awsome mod guys.Had some trubbles using the installer. But the .rar files worked like a charm.
One issue though, combat/patroll mission in the start system dosnt seem to register kills. I killed 7-8 Dilgar ships, but then I got a mail saying that I failed the mission. And didnt kill any ships.
Other than that awsome work guys =P

Another issue I discovered is that I keep getting mails saying test and test complete =P
Must say that your models are awsome, saw an Omega class destroyer up close as I entered HS. Was quite cool =P
Nvm found the map on page 1

I've been following this with great anticipation. Installed the alpha demo & patch earlier to give this a spin.
Everything went fine - few minor details which aren't polished yet but that's to be expected for an Alpha demo. (Mainly the voice-over which pauses mid-ship name "earth alliance ...pause few seconds... scout" etc.)
Completed flight-school - obtained the mission to fly to Jericho. Entered hyperspace (The jumpgate is sheer awesomeness) and about 20 seconds into hyperspace my whole computer froze. I can kill the x3 process, but it literally wont come back.
Reload and retry - managed to ALMOST get out of hyperspace but same issue right before I reached Jericho gate.
Really a shame as I wanted to explore the demo a bit more, some of the videos I saw of the mod showed awesome modelling.
I'm running on Windows 7, x64.
Core i7 950
12 GB Tri-channel Ram
2x GTX 460 SLI
The game was running rock solid, in fact the mod gives almost double the framerate as the original game. (Was running well over 300)
Besides for the crash my only other observation was that the font is fairly difficult to read. I quite like the font as a whole, but a few characters in the fontset almost blend together which could be an issue when playing the mod for a prolonged period of time.
Looking forward to future patches / installments - will definitely play this. Hopefully the crashing issue will be gone at that point, or I will find out what on earth is going on.
I was running a completely clean install - the only thing that's installed is the bonus pack.
