Commentary

A corvette weapon made by the Boron that specializes in high shield damage. Like all ion weapons of the Boron the Ion Pulse Generator shreds shields and has several additional effects. The IPG has the longest range of any corvette weapon and deals splash damage to a small radius on impact but the area is so small it will only hit multiple targets if they are very close together. The shield dps is 33% higher than Concussion Impulse Generators and 27% higher than Ion Shard Railguns however the hull dps is under a sixth of that dealt by the other corvette weapons making them preferable choices for general combat. The slow applied on impact makes a single IPG good to mix with CIGs or ISRs to allow slower ships a speed advantage or to make the target easier to hit. The slow projectile speed makes hitting fighters difficult however this becomes easier once the splash from a successful impact slows the targets.
