Functions and applications
The TP personnel transporters are used for the completion of taxi missions requiring them, storing spare marines not in training or ready for boarding operations and for spacewalk boarding. Most TPs have shielding only slightly better than an M4+ and lack the laser energy management for sustained fighting reducing their turrets to an antimissile role. The strongest missiles able to be used by TPs are the Silkworm and Hurricane missiles. Some TPs like the Ocelot and Geochen can use EBCs giving them enough sustained firepower to engage fighters in sector but the use of TPs for frequent combat is not recommended. If used for boarding there is a heavy reliance on fighter drones and missile use with a high risk to the TP unless another player ship uses ion weaponry to disarm the target ship. As most players aim to have >100 marines training as early as possible it is recommended to have at least 3 TPs docked at the station used to be able to store any marines that finish training. For the completion of taxi missions the Ocelot and Angel are the most popular choices.
