- Supported formats:
- png (Transparency supported)
- bmp
- gif (without animation)
- jpg (no transparency)
- tga
- Default faction logos size: 256x256 pixel
- Aspect ratio: 1 x 1
- Edge length a multiple of 2
- Larger is possible but be careful!
- Formatting of the file name:
- playerlogo_01.*
- Emissive map (makes the logo glow)
playerlogo_01_glow.*
- Instructions in-game:
- Start the game
- Load your savegame
- Go-to Player Information>Empire>Logos
- Select your paintmod from the custom paintmods section below the default options

What is an emissive map? How does that work?

Diffuse is the colour you see, emissive is the reflection, normal is fine detail and emissive is glow. They are different layers you can paint with a program like GIMP.

According to this savegames in the are by default stored in a hidden folder ".config/EgoSoft/X4/<number>/save/" in your home directory. So in the same directory as the save folder, there should also be "logos" folder, I guess.

Note that with linux files must have all lowercase names, for example: coologo.png NOT CooLogo.png

habs eben ausversehen mit 1080px auf 1080px probiert anstatt 1024x1024 und es hat auch funktioniert (cradle of humanity version 4.0)

.dds format seems to work though I don't have specific format details - just a note that I've found a pack of battletech faction logos that work and are provided as such files.
