Encyclopedia description
Foundries were once used to mine raw minerals straight from the asteroid they were connected to, but after the Teladi made the mineral harvesting process more efficient through the use of mining ships, they realised their mines no longer had purpose. In order to increase their efficiency further, mines were turned into Foundries so that mineral collection and refinement into Teladianium was completed in one place. This meant they could shut down their slower, less efficient Teladianium Foundries and send the product of the Foundries straight to their shipyards for use.
