Within the Sol system, Mercury is the closest planet to its sun. With no atmosphere to speak of, and permanently exposed to solar winds, this planet is unprotected from both the cold temperatures of space during the night and the scorching fires of the sun during the day. Too expensive for habitation, Mercury remains only of scientific interest.

Mercury offers the best solar irradiance of all sectors in the Jumpgate Network followed by Venus. Constructing a solar power plant in this sector can significantly reduce the time taken to break even. Trading is less profitable when selling from Mercury to the adjacent sectors as the stations in nearby sectors are already inundated with energy cells, instead sell further afield to sectors beyond the Asteroid Belt.
