A laser used to break up asteroids for mining. This weapon is the only laser that can kill asteroids and is a preferential alternative to several types of missile in that it has repeated use. Although long range the projectile speed is pathetic while the dps is comparable to an Impulse Ray Emitter making this not a weapon of choice for combat. Having a Mobile Drilling System laser equipped on a ship enables the ??? (WIP) commandMine Minerals command to kill asteroids so that the minerals can be harvested. Factories for this type of laser are not common in the X-Universe and prone to removal by the GOD system so late game NPC sources can become scarce making it advisable to set up a player owned Mobile Drilling System Factory when convenient.
