The Upgrade Service is an essential feature for entrepreneurs with growing fleets, as well as for those with their own ship production facilities. It allows ships to be upgraded at the owner's trading stations and equipment docks, as well as at the Spacelab Headquarters itself. This service is automatically available, and its use incurs no additional fees over and above the normal charges applicable at any third-party station. Once upgrades have been installed, payment is transferred to the local service representative via sub-space data burst.
The service can also be used to install software upgrades, but these must first be acquired, either through Agents' diplomatic activities, or from the Explorers Guild.
