Developer notes for changes in 3.00 Beta 1

UI

Target Elements

  • (IMPROVEMENT) The distance value shows a one digit decimal value for objects which are > 1km away now.
  • (BUGFIX) While in 1st-person, some mission targets incorrectly displayed a hull/shield bar (like buttons or pilot chairs) in certain cases (f.e. when they were selected) X4-350 - Getting issue details... STATUS
    (note: the screenshot/example for the pre 3.00 Beta 1 state differs a bit as the mission target used a different color before 3.00 Beta 1)

Weapon Panel

  • (BUGFIX) If a weapon is assigned to a primary and a secondary group, it was incorrectly displayed as active for the primary as well as the secondary weapon set, even if only one of the currently active primary/secondary weapon groups had it assigned. Target Elements

  • (IMPROVEMENT) The visual difference representing whether a target is inside or outside the weapon range improved slightly and also uses a differently sized bracket-element for when the target is the softtarget. (improves change done during 3.00 development)

Crosshair

  • (REMOVED) The old "mission objective update" effect in the crosshair was dropped (since this is superseded by the new mission bar (see below)

Mission Bar

  • (NEW FEATURE) A new mission bar appears in the center of the screen, if the current mission objective changes:

Target Elements

  • (IMPROVEMENT) A sound effect was added for the aim-ahead indicator, when it changes its state between in and out of weapon range.

Weapon Panel

  • (BUGFIX) Fixed EMP bomb being displayed as inactive, even if it's active (regression introduced in 3.00 Beta 1).

  • (IMPROVEMENT) Missile launchers display different icons now based on the loaded ammo in the launcher.

General

  • (IMPROVEMENT) The behavior of the UI scale setting (options menu -> settings -> game settings) was adjusted to get more reasonable results on the more common display resolutions out there. This is especially notable on monitors with horizontal resolutions >1920. The following screenshots provide an overview of how the UI elements behaved before and after 3.00 Beta 5on different resolutions.

External HUD

  • (BUGFIX) Fixed the mission target arrow in external view (F2) not being displayed, unless there is also a target being set. (regression introduced in 3.00 Beta 1).

General

  • (BUGFIX) Fixed multiple UI issues (incl. the most noticeable effect of the missing 1st-person crosshair) in cases where a direct transition from external view mode to 1st-person mode was done. One way to trigger this issue is to go to external view (F2) while sitting inside a cockpit and press CTRL+D to stand up.

Crosshair

  • (NEW FEATURE) 3.00 Beta 6 adds a display for the current oxygen level to the crosshair/hud while being inside the spacesuit.
  • (IMPROVEMENT) A spacesuit has no countermeasures to launch. Therefore, the display of countermeasures was dropped from the crosshair, if the player is inside a spacesuit.
  • (BUGFIX) In 1st-person, text (associated to an interactive event displayed on the target monitor) could remain on screen after the interactive event disappeared. This has now been resolved and the text will no longer remain on screen.

  • (IMPROVEMENT) Slightly improved visuals of the new oxygen bar.
  • (BUGFIX) Fixed missing (mission) target arrow, if current target is directly behind the player.

Target Elements

  • (BUGFIX) In certain interiors you might have experienced floating or missing target elements for NPCs. These issues should have been resolved now.

General

  • (BUGFIX) Certain texts (namely: Saving game... (and related), and texts in the subchannel bar) appeared behind menus, making them kind of unreadable, if the menu was open. This has been resolved, and these texts are displayed in front of open menus now.

Crosshair

  • (BUGFIX) The interactive text in the crosshair (1st-person and non-1st-person modes) could be displayed in certain cases, even if the interaction was not possible at the moment. One obvious case was when talking to an NPC, where the "talk" action text was still displayed during the conversation.
    It could also happen the other way around (i.e. the interaction text would be missing in certain situations). Both cases have been fixed now.

Target Elements

  • (BUGFIX) Fixed cases where mission target elements (in non-1st-person mode) did not show up. This could primarily happen with mission targets on highways or gates (but also on ships in certain specific cases).

Target Monitor

  • (BUGFIX) Occasionally the monitor could get stuck and stop working until a UI reload occurred (f.e. by starting/loading a new game, changing the game resolution, etc.). This has been fixed now.

Developer notes for changes in 3.00 Beta 10 (Hotfix 1)

Target Elements

  • (BUGFIX) Fixed cases where a mission target element could be missing (concrete example was a case where you start in 1st-person mode and sit down in the cockpit chair where no target element would be displayed on the docking bay you were supposed to dock at). (regression introduced in 3.00 Beta 1)
  • (BUGFIX) Fixed cases where an outdated mission target element could be displayed (practically this is likely limited to cases where a non-1st-persion mission target remained on screen in 1st-person mode) (regression introduced in 3.00 Beta 1)
