Commentary

A Pirate weapon for fighters and corvettes that does multiple hit splash damageThe Plasma Burst Generator is similar to the Phased Shockwave Generator in that it launches a slow moving expanding wave dealing periodic damage to any ships unfortunate enough to be caught in the cone shaped blast. The PBG can hit larger targets many times with a single shot stacking up to very high damage and covers enough area to wipe out multiple smaller ships if densely packed and clusters of missiles. The main problem with the PBG is that it has a tendency to cause friendly fire both to player assets and friendly NPCs (bad for reputation with those races) meaning ships equipped with Plasma Burst Generators should be kept away from player fleets and trade lanes. The low range means ships using PBGs need to be wary of hostile ships equipped with long range weapons and aim to close the gap quickly using the Turbo Booster Mk1. As the splash and multiple hit effects only apply In Sector it is recommended to only use this weapon on the player ship and accompanying ships which are kept at a distance. This weapon is a good choice for taking on ships of a superior class.
