The Arawn is arguably the second most powerful ownable capital ship in the game (behind Fulmekron), only being let down by issues with XR's game design. It has the strongest shields of any player ownable ship as well as excellent drone capacity with extremely secure Drone Launch Pads. Its already high hull is complemented further by 2 tough (~1000k hull?) destructible outriggers capable of shielding the hull from some incoming damage. Unfortunately the way drone combat is implemented in the game (only a small wave can be launched each time) means in practice, the bigger drone bay isn't an advantage in combat (for OOZ combat, however, it does give an advantage due to the simplified algorithms). Its weaponry is also somewhat problematic, relying exclusively on the Plasma/MA turrets and V Crushers (expense of ammunition) for capital-to-capital combat. If used to its full potential the dependence on drones and missiles can translate to a hefty upkeep. Despite these short comings the Arawn should never be under estimated in capital ship combat as even without ammo or drones it can effortlessly dispatch lone Xenon K, Taranis and Olmekron fight ships.

The lack of Plasma/JET Laser turrets means that boarding one is relatively simple although highly time consuming.

The Arawn has a large number of Hailstorm turrets - accounting for nearly a third of its total DPS - making it highly effective against nearby fighters.

  • Total DPS: 233410 (IZ)*
  • Hull: 6000K
  • Capital Shield Class: Capital Field Generator Mk3 (x4)
  • Component Shield Class: Force Field Projector Mk2
  • Speed: 60 m/s
  • Drone Capacity: 300
  • Weapons:
    • HIT/MA Turret (Argon) x56
    • Plasma/MA Turret (Argon) x22
    • Hailstorm Turret x14*
    • V Launcher x5
    • Astrobee Launcher x1

* 2 additional Hailstorm turrets are located inside the drone launch area but play no role in NPC vs NPC combat while the player is in-zone. When the Arawn is OOZ, they may contribute to the abstracted combat strength of some quadrants.

Surely the internal Hailstorm turrets still count as DPS when in low attention due to the algorithm used looking at weapon systems and not their logical positioning? Or are they specifically made to be ignored in low attention combat?

Very good point. I've adjusted the notes accordingly.

      Thanks,
