Commentary
An anti-fighter capital ship weapon of the Terran. The Starburst Shockwave Cannon deals 2% more shield dps and 10% more hull dps than the Flak Artillery Array used by Commonwealth ships but has a 20% higher laser energy consumption, 100m lower range and a considerably slower projectile (meaning they can be dodged). The high damage shots will shred attacking M4/M5 ships or at least cripple them. The main problem with the SSC is the high energy cost per shot which can drain the Laser Energy reserves of the ships using them in sector if fighting swarms of fighters. Another weakness is the average range which allows fighters equipped with Phased Repeater Guns and Energy Bolt Chain guns or corvettes with Concussion Impulse Generators, M/A-M Launchers and Ion Shard Railguns to attack sides of a ship with Flak Artillery Array from a safe distance. Although able to do good damage to M6 and M7 ships at close range, it is probably better to use other laser options for the turret or to manoeuvre more damaging turrets into the line of fire. Due to only 2-3 NPC Starburst Shockwave Cannon Forges existing it is recommended for the player to construct their own if using Terran capital ships.
