Fire Authorisation Overrides prescribe how ships should handle their behaviour with other faction's ships. As with other global orders Fire Authorisation Overrides can be configured as a default but can also be configured on a per-ship basis. When creating or editing a Fire Authorisation Override there are a number of different possible configurations which are applied per faction. These are outlined in detail below:

RuthlessAllows attacks on all of the faction's objects regardless of relation
AggressiveAllows attacks on all of the faction's military objects regardless of relation and allows attacks on civilian objects with a relation of -25 or below
ChivalrousAllows attacks on all of the faction's military objects regardless of relation and will not attempt to attack civilian ships unless they attack first
DefaultAllows attacks on the faction's military objects with a relation below -20 and civilian objects below -25
HonorableAllows attacks on the faction's military objects with a relation below -20 and will not attempt to attack civilian ships unless they attack first
RestrainedAllows attacks on all of a faction's objects provided they are at a relation of -25 or below
DefensiveOnly permits attacks on a faction's ships if they have attacked first. Player ships will not attempt any unprovoked attacks
